Dog walking - Mine Woods. Bridge of Allan

The other day the local freesheet, Allanwater News, published a photo of a dead dog to illustrate a feature on some controvery over new paths in the Mine Woods.

That dog was ours, Chas, who passed away some six years ago!

This is our new dog, Miles, walking in Mine Woods. Ok all spaniels look alike - but believe me to their owners they are very individual. For the record all the above photos are of Miles...

Tragedy on the Sheriffmuir reservoir

Back in the winter a deer attempted to cross this frozen reservoir. The ice cracked.
It fell in. By the time a rescue party arrived it was too late.

A week later Miles, my Springer spaniel, took off across the frozen water, and I watched horrified. What to do? He was unharmed.

One of the many animal footprints in the snow...

Silver birch - garden

Sometimes a neighbour's tree adds to the vista from your own garden. This is the case with this Silver birch in the garden next door.

Sunday afternoon walk. Bridge of Allan

One of my favourite walking days in Scotland - air crisp from first big frost of the season. Snow on the mountains. Walked from my home around the Sheriffmuir reservoir. The two swans are back for the winter. Will they survive? met a couple carrying a bag full of bread for them.

Park of Keir

Sunday afternoon walk over Park of Keir......this will soon be developed into a golf course , hotel etc. I was part of an environmental campaigning group that tried to launch a community buy-out for this land so that it would become a country park.

There are stunning views to Stirling Castle and the Wallace monument from Park of Keir.

Putting the cart before the horse: more thoughts on community and technology
I think "tribes" is a better term than community because is provides some granuality and acknowledges the different self-interests within a community.
